Mbebeuss is one of the largest open-air landfills in the world. With an extension of 175 hectares, it receives all kind of waste from the whole region of Dakar, the capital of Senegal. From used oil, to organic, metal or even sanitary wastes, everything is mixed and taken to the dump. In addition to heavy polluting of the environment, Mbebeuss represents a threat for the health of the thousands of people living in its surroundings.
